Jen Hoverstad focuses her practice on helping clients prepare for life’s most unexpected events. Inspired by her own journey with breast cancer at age 34, Jen counsels clients in various areas of elder law, estate planning, and estate administration. She established Forrest Firm’s Medicaid planning service, which is available throughout North Carolina.
Prior to practicing full-time estate and elder law, Jen joined the Forrest Firm in an of counsel role, primarily advising the employment law practice and leading technology-based initiatives for the firm. Jen began her legal career as a litigator at the Raleigh law firm of Rik Lovett & Associates in 2011, where she partnered directly with clients, from initial intake to post-trial, to represent their best interests against opposing parties. Since then, she has worked as a practicing lawyer and in several executive roles in the corporate sector, including human resources, compliance, marketing, and client service.
Jen brings a wealth of experience in developing relationships and strategies for a diverse roster of companies, including Chick-fil-A, Counter Culture Coffee, North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild, and The Wolfpack Club. While her background includes consulting, Jen has served on in-house leadership teams where she has been able to advise business owners and senior leaders on a variety of business needs, including human resources, compliance, training, client services, and marketing.
In addition to practicing law, Jen is a motivational speaker. Similar to her legal practice, she shares her story with cancer to encourage people how to tackle life’s difficult challenges and use them for good in the lives of others.
