Attorney Janean B. Dunn focuses her legal practice on management-side employment law.  In her role at Forrest Firm, Janean adds depth to the employment law team and proactively advises clients on employment matters. Her practice includes auditing, drafting, and revising employee handbooks and company policies; classifying exempt and non-exempt employees; preparing agreements and contracts for hiring and terminating employees and independent contractors, and conducting workplace investigations.

Prior to joining Forrest Firm, Janean was an associate attorney at Jackson Lewis, P.C., national labor and employment law firm. She represented employers in state and federal courts and provided advice and counsel to businesses and corporations.  Janean possesses a successful track record in the area of labor and employment litigation. Throughout her career, she has achieved the following positive results for employers:

  • Successfully defended an employer at a labor arbitration hearing involving a claim of wrongful termination based on disability discrimination and failure to accommodate.
  • Defended an employer against a Motion for Summary Judgment for a pregnancy discrimination claim, a hostile work environment claim based on sex and retaliation.
  • Defended an employer at a hearing before an administrative judge on a hostile work environment claim based on race and retaliation.
  • Aided an employer in the resolution of an U.S. Office of Special Counsel investigation into alleged whistleblower retaliation.

Janean is a frequent speaker on employment law matters, to include presenting at the North Carolina Bar Association’s 2020 Fundamentals of Employment Law CLE, and presenting Employment Law Updates at the annual meetings for the Association of Corporate Counsel – Raleigh Chapter and the Alamance County Human Resources Association. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina. Janean is licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina and all the United States District Courts of North Carolina.

Outside of the office, Janean enjoys serving her community, traveling with her husband Craig and spending time with their dog Charlie.
