The Forrest Firm’s attorneys and professional staff have banded together in the spirit of the firm’s B corp mission by making a $3,000 donation to WRAL’s annual Coats for Children campaign.
Attorney Jen Hoverstad presented the firm’s donation live on WRAL-TV during the station’s annual telethon to cap the campaign, which began on November 17.
The Coats for Children campaign, an annual drive to support the Salvation Army of Wake County in its efforts to supply winter coats, warm clothing, and toys to children in need, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2018. The firm’s donation amount reflects a tribute to the charity’s anniversary.
Salvation Army of Wake County area commander Stephen Long rang the bell at a Walmart location in Holly Springs for 30 consecutive hours last week to commemorate the anniversary, setting an example for donors from around the county and state. WRAL-TV anchors and meteorologists also donated special hosted tours of the station to generate donations.
The Coats for Children campaign will be taking donations through December 31. Donors are encouraged to visit www.WRAL.com or text “Coats” to 41444 to make a debit/credit card gift of any amount. $125 is the magic number to completely outfit a child for the winter season.
Other information such as coat drop-off locations, participating Salvation Army branches, and general campaign details can also be found on WRAL.com. Since 1989, WRAL-TV has collected more than 162,500 coats and raised $2 million to provide winter clothing for Salvation Army families.
“We are honored to make a special donation to the Coats for Children program in partnership with the Salvation Army of Wake County and WRAL,” said Monica Webb-Shackleford, attorney in the firm’s Raleigh office and coordinator of pro bono and public service programs at the Forrest Firm. “To a person, we are all touched by the Coats for Children mission, which completely aligns with our firm’s values to lift up the communities where we live and work. While we all celebrate the holidays with our families, it’s great to see such an impactful charity making the holidays much brighter for thousands of area families.”
