The Forrest Firm Gives Back
February 12, 2020
At the Forrest Firm, we are dedicated to putting people over profits.
Our attorneys adhere to a pro bono and volunteerism policy that encourages each full-time employee to participate in pro bono work as well as volunteer and community activities. Each employee on staff at the firm stands by the idea of “do the right thing,” whether that is in the courtroom or in our communities.
As the only Certified B Corporation law firm in North Carolina, it is important to our attorneys to focus on ways they can improve the lives of others.
During the holiday season, the Forrest Firm took extra steps to give back where we can.
For the second consecutive year, throughout the month of December, our firm matched attorney donations to their favorite non-profit organizations that align with our mission. These charities vary, but each one has a special place in the attorneys’ lives.
This year, all of the attorneys and legal support staff in the Charlotte office donated to Make-A-Wish of Central and Western North Carolina.
The decision to choose Make-A-Wish as their featured non-profit stemmed from the Charlotte team’s recent experiences with the foundation.
Attorney Brian Bernhardt volunteers as a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish and has supported Make-A-Wish by supporting the Wish Ball, its annual fundraising gala.
Attorney Nicole Murphey helped a local Wish Granter find the resources to grant a wish. The wish came from a young child who wanted to safely ride her bicycle at home, but her gravel driveway created a hazardous and unsteady surface. Nicole learned about the wish from one of her seminar co-sponsors and, with the help of a fellow Forrest Firm attorney, made a connection with a local paving and grading contractors to ensure that the child’s wish would be granted. Describing the experience as a “right place, right time” situation, Nicole was grateful to have the contacts needed to grant a wish.
These interactions are a great reminder that our attorneys and staff have a positive impact on the community even during and after what might otherwise be a normal day at the office.
As part of the Forrest Firm’s December campaign to giveback, Make-A-Wish received $1,150.00 thanks to the contributions of the members of the firm’s Charlotte office and the firm’s matching gift!
Forrest Firm is always looking for opportunities to use our position to help others and make it our mission to positively impact the communities around us.
