Forrest Firm Attorneys Named 2020 Super Lawyers

The Forrest Firm is pleased to announce that nine of the firm’s attorneys have been recognized in the annual ranking of North Carolina attorneys by Super Lawyers magazine. Among the honored attorneys are Rachel Blunk, John Burns, James Forrest, Lyle Gravatt, Andy Jones, Leslie Lasher, Andy Lax, Jason Pfister, and Jeff Wolfe.
The magazine’s four-part selection process yields an annual listing of “Super Lawyers” and “Rising Stars,” the latter comprised of attorneys either under the age of 40 or with less than 10 years in practice. The process consists of peer nominations from fellow North Carolina attorneys, independent research by an attorney-led team, peer evaluation by practice area, and finally a selection geared by firm sizes to allow for representation across the legal community in its entirety.
John Burns, James Forrest, Andy Lax, and Jason Pfister have been given the distinction of Super Lawyer while Rachel Blunk, Lyle Gravatt, Andy Jones, Leslie Lasher, and Jeff Wolfe, have been named Rising Stars by the publication.
Rachel Blunk focuses her practice on the needs of businesses and business owners, handling both business disputes and litigation matters as well as commercial transactions. In addition to her diverse legal practice, Rachel serves as Managing Attorney of the Firm’s Greensboro and Charlotte offices.
John Burns represents clients in a wide variety of matters involving commercial litigation, arbitrations, and appeals, with insights and perspectives gained from over 20 years as a practicing attorney in North Carolina. He frequently serves clients in the financial services industry and has represented companies in corporate contract and tort disputes, loan workouts, commercial foreclosures and collections, and construction contracting disputes.
James Forrest began his career in Atlanta, Georgia working for one of the largest corporate law firms in the world. Subsequently, James practiced with Moore & Van Allen, PLLC, one of the premier law firms in the Southeast. After seven years in two large, traditional firms, James founded the Forrest Firm in 2011 to provide corporate legal resources in a markedly different, client-centric manner – where customer service was the central focus.
Lyle Gravatt focuses his practice on intellectual property (IP). Providing end-to-end services, clients can identify, create, monetize and protect their IP assets. Using his strategic perspectives and experience in a wide range of technologies, clients may align their patents, trademarks and trade secret assets with their business’s goals.
Andy Jones maintains a diverse practice focused on providing proactive counsel to help businesses and their owners solve problems and create value, primarily in the areas of dispute resolution and corporate transactions. A leader in firm initiatives, Andy also serves as president of the firm. In his litigation practice, Andy represents clients in matters involving all forms of civil and commercial disputes in state and federal courts, from pre-filing negotiations to appeals.
Leslie Lasher represents public and private employers and focuses her practice on employment, compliance and risk-management. While she partners with employers to create, review, and implement efficient human capital strategies, her ultimate goal is to minimize the potential for litigation. However, Leslie is no stranger to the courtroom. Prior to joining Forrest Firm, Leslie practices as a trial and appellate counsel before several state and federal administrative agencies, and in all North Carolina court systems.
Andy Lax has worked as a litigator for more than 30 years, resolving disputes for clients of the firm across a host of industries. In addition to his trial work, Andy also focuses on other forms of risk management, including dispute resolution, litigation avoidance, and claim/case handling. During his career, Andy has taken over 200 trials to jury verdicts. Andy is also a Certified Superior Court Mediator, and he has mediated more than 600 cases is that role.
Jason Pfister joined Forrest Firm after practicing as a business attorney in the Triangle area for 11 years. Jason focuses his practice on a variety of commercial dispute matters, including business governance, shareholder agreements, and unfair trade practices. Additionally, Jason counsels clients on all aspects related to the development of real estate, including land use, zoning, acquisition and leasing of commercial properties.
Jeff Wolfe practices business law out in the Triad office. His practice covers the entire life cycle of for both for-profit and non-profit entities, including formation, financing, day-to-day contracts, and exits. Jeff has advised companies at every size and stage of the business life cycle, from early-stage startups to large public companies. Prior to joining the Forrest Firm, Jeff practiced with Raleigh-based Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan.
