September 9, 2014
September 9, 2014 (DURHAM, NC) James Forrest, founder and principal attorney at the Forrest Firm, P.C., announces the addition of attorney John C. Lindsey as of counsel to advise the firm’s diverse roster of business clients in North Carolina.
The Forrest Firm, based in the state’s Research Triangle region, is a provider of corporate legal services to entrepreneurs and executives. The firm works in multiple areas relevant to businesses at every stage of their life cycles. Core practice areas include corporate formation, intellectual property, employment, mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation, drafting, and review, and contract dispute resolution.
In his new role at the Forrest Firm, Mr. Lindsey will focus on a few areas critical to the success of the firm’s clients, such as corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and trademark and copyright law, according to James Forrest, founder and principal attorney at the firm. “We are honored to have John Lindsey at the service of our clients at the Forrest Firm,” stated Forrest. “He brings a rare combination of academic pedigree and public service, along with a near-peerless track record of service in private practice and as corporate counsel for several key industries that match those within our growing client roster. Forrest Firm clients will benefit from both his vast experience, as well as his warmth and accessibility, all of which make John a key partner to growing a business in fast-paced, complex industries with international implications.”
Lindsey comes to the Forrest Firm with over twenty years of experience in public service and private law practice, beginning with public work at the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), a federal agency charged with, among other responsibilities, protecting American business interests from unfairly traded imports. After spending six years providing economic and legal advice to the agency and its commissioners, Lindsey entered private legal practice, spending seven years at Washington, DC-area law firms, advising corporate clients on international trade issues such as anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations, customs, immigration, and export controls.
In 1993, Lindsey joined the Durham, NC law firm of Daniels Daniels & Verdonik. During his 12-year tenure at the firm, Lindsey focused his practice on the software and pharmaceutical industries. Core practice areas included corporate transactions, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, lease negotiations, trademark and copyright protection, licensing agreements, employment agreements, business visas/immigration law, and private securities offerings.
For the last nine years, Lindsey has served as corporate counsel for a pair of telecommunications companies, leading efforts in complex commercial transactions, including service provider agreements, equipment purchase agreements, software licensing agreements, and multi-office lease transactions across the country.
Lindsey earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Along with his Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, Lindsey also holds a PhD in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
