Hicks, Idilbi Talk Entity Choice at Forrest Firm’s Legally Speaking @Advent in Charlotte
September 26, 2017
Meet business attorney Ben Hicks for the Forrest Firm’s Legally Speaking @Advent on Thursday, October 5 at 5:30 pm.
For our October session, Ben will be discussing entity choices for North Carolina businesses, covering the big picture nuts-and-bolts of corporations (S corp vs C corp), LLCs, partnerships, and joint ventures. For the mission and social impact minded, he’ll also cover non-profits, public benefit corporations, and certified B corps (the Forrest Firm became a certified B corp in early 2016, becoming North Carolina’s largest firm to operate for the benefit of the public).
The Forrest Firm’s Legally Speaking @Advent after-hours seminar series is a free offering to tenants of uptown Charlotte’s Advent Coworking, as well as interested members of the business community. The series is led by attorney Ben Hicks, who leads the Forrest Firm’s Charlotte office housed at Advent.
Ben joined the Forrest Firm in the spring of 2017, after spending the previous seven years as a corporate attorney in New York and Charlotte. He advises entrepreneurs and corporate executives in multiple areas of busin
ess law, including entity formation and corporate governance, contract negotiation, drafting, and review, as well as mergers and acquisitions and fundraising through angel and venture financing and corporate securities.
Joining Ben for October’s Legally Speaking @Advent is Jason Idilbi, former business litigator and current general counsel at Charlotte-based Passport, the leading provider of mobile payment parking and transit software in North America (and Charlotte’s fastest-growing private company).
Ben and Jason will offer a variety of perspectives, showcasing benefits and pitfalls of entity choice with regard to taxation, fundraising, business development, and more.
