FORREST FIRM SPONSORS SMALL HANDS BIG HEARTS UNITED’S JAVA JIVE JOG
July 8, 2015
A few months back, we spotlighted a very special Forrest Firm client, a non-profit aimed at invigorating the desire of children to be compassionate to others and the world around them. Without regard to age restrictions, Small Hands Big Hearts United (SHBHU) educates, coordinates, and provides creative and accessible ways for kids to participate in charitable activities and fundraisers that they refer to as “compassion missions.”
The group empowers children to make a difference in their communities and encourages them to make compassionate choices in their daily lives. An organization with a true home-and-abroad focus, SHBHU has brought kids together for local food banks, Habitat for Humanity, and the Ronald McDonald House. They’ve even delivered much-needed assistance to an orphanage in Thailand and typhoon victims in the Philippines.
SHBHU is hosting the Java Jive Jog 5k and 10k races in Cary this year, and the Forrest Firm is honored to be a platinum sponsor of the event. The Java Jive Jog debuted in 2012 as a 5k race and then took a three-year hiatus. It returns this year, bigger and better, as both a 5k and 10k.
This year is expected to be the biggest turnout thus far and will feature a fantastic Family Fun Zone and a post-race party with music from Cary’s School of Rock. All proceeds from the race will go to support SHBHU’s mission.
“Small Hands Big Hearts is such an inspiring organization,” said Forrest Firm founder and principal James Forrest. “What they’re doing not just for our community, but also around the world is incredible. We’re honored to be a part of their mission as they bring the best out of kids in our area.”
The Java Jive 5k and 10k takes place Saturday, August 1, at the Lochmere Pavilion on Kildaire Farm Road. The discount entry deadline for both the 5k and 10k is July 18. “I am so grateful to the Forrest Firm for helping us in the very early stages of growth. It means the world to have them helping us in the beginning of such a new journey,” said SHBHU director Anita Pease.
