FORREST FIRM SPONSORS SMALL HANDS BIG HEARTS UNITED’S 2016 JAVA JIVE JOG
August 4, 2016
The group, led by social entrepreneur Anita Pease, empowers children to make a difference in their communities and encourages them to make compassionate choices in their daily lives. An organization with a true home-and-abroad focus, Small Hands Big Hearts United has brought kids together for local food banks, Habitat for Humanity, and the Ronald McDonald House. The organization even delivered much-needed assistance to foreign orphanages and victims of natural disasters worldwide.
Without regard to age restrictions, Small Hands Big Hearts United educates, coordinates, and provides creative and accessible ways for kids to participate in charitable activities and fundraisers that they refer to as “compassion missions.”
This year’s edition of the Java Jive Jog seeks to accommodate people of all abilities, with at 5k Run/Walk and a 10K/Walk run. Both the 5k and 10k will begin at 8:00am on Saturday, August 13, with the starting line at Java Jive Lochmere Pavilion. The races will proceed east on Lochmere Drive and go through the Lochwood West neighborhood, return to finish at the Lochmere Pavillion. The 10k will consist of two laps around the same course.
Small Hands Big Hearts United will be providing T-shirts and awards will be provided for a range of ages at the post-race party, which will also include hula hoop and jump rope contests.
“We are thrilled to support Anita Pease and the great families that make up Small Hands Big Hearts United,” said Elliott. “They are part of a core group of not-profit clients at the firm that we’ve seen make a huge impact in such a short amount of time. Teaching children to give their time and efforts to helping others will have a ripple effect for generations to come.”
