Forrest Firm Joins Forces with Collective Hustle, SoGal for Charlotte Tax and Beers Event

The Forrest Firm is supporting an innovative collaboration in Charlotte next week, joining venture platform SoGal  and Queen City entrepreneurship network Collective Hustle for an educational event for startups.

“Discuss Business Taxes over Beers” will take place at Charlotte’s Bold Missy Brewery on February 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  SoGal and Collective Hustle are gathering Charlotte’s startup community to provide a safe space where entrepreneurs can ask professionals the difficult questions that come with taxes. A panel of local professionals, including the Forrest Firm’s Brian Bernhardt, will look at topics like business taxes readiness, bookkeeping best practices, and what to do if you’ve missed deadlines or filed incorrectly.

Other panelists include CPA Lucy Nizinski of Pesta, Finnie & Associates and accounting and bookkeeping consultant Danielle McLaughlin. The beer is free, and so is the panel discussion. The Forrest Firm’s Rachel Blunk, managing attorney for the Charlotte and Greensboro offices, helped kickstart the event.

Brian Bernhardt focuses his practice on IRS tax controversies, tax litigation against the IRS and the Department of Justice, and advising nonprofit organizations on tax and governance matters. With over 20 years of experience, he is an invaluable resource for any business, non-profit organization, or individual in need of tax or governance advice.

Brian represents clients before the IRS on audits, administrative appeals, penalty abatements, and other administrative matters; before the Department of Justice Tax Division on refund claims, criminal investigations, and other legal proceedings; and in tax litigation in the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States District Courts.
