FORREST FIRM ANNOUNCES MERGER WITH HOWES LAW

cory300August 2, 2016 (DURHAM, NC) The Forrest Firm, a North Carolina-based business law firm and certified B Corporation, announces its merger with estate planning firm Howes Law of Raleigh.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2016, the Forrest Firm is a provider of corporate legal services to entrepreneurs, investors and executives. The firm works in multiple areas relevant to businesses at every stage of their life cycles. Core practice areas include business formation, angel and venture financings, intellectual property, commercial real estate, employment, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, tax, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.

With the merger of the Forrest Firm and Howes Law, attorney Cory Howes and paralegal Kiera Magnus will join the Forrest firm team of business attorneys, strengthening a pair of key practice areas. Howes will lead the Forrest Firm’s estate planning practice, as well as manage a new service for firm’s business clients, providing for maintenance of corporate formalities for companies of all sizes.

Mr. Howes, a former litigator and tax and finance advisor, brings multiple perspectives to benefit clients and their financial advisors in estate planning and administration, business planning, and asset protection strategies.  Since December 2015, Howes has provided estate planning and administration services to Forrest Firm clients as an Of Counsel attorney.

“I am excited about merging Howes Law with the Forrest Firm,” said Howes, a 2008 graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law. “Over the last few years, we’ve built a client-centered model that stresses access to legal professionals on an ongoing basis, with predictable billing, while delivering innovative services and benefits.  These values completely align with those of the Forrest Firm, and I’m pleased to bring the Forrest Firm’s comprehensive suite of business law practice areas to bear for the entrepreneurs and executives we’ve been collaborating with at Howes Law.”

“Merging the Forrest Firm with Howes Law is a move that makes sense from every angle,” said firm founder and lead attorney James Forrest. “Cory takes a long-term view of client relationships, as we do, while maintaining a keen attention to detail with each transaction or planning cycle. Our clients are already enjoying not only the multiple perspectives he brings to estate planning, but also the processes he has designed to deliver a high-touch, highly educational experience. We look forward to serving our clients with a greater offering of estate and business planning services, thanks to Cory’s full-time involvement in our firm.”
