American Underground, a multi-campus office and co-working space aimed at startup companies across the Triangle, has entered a partnership with the Forrest Firm to provide discounted legal services to early-stage companies.

americanundergroundThe Forrest Firm, based in the state’s Research Triangle region, is a provider of corporate legal services to companies and executives. The firm works in multiple areas relevant to businesses at every stage of their life cycles. Core practice areas include corporate formation, capital raises and securities, commercial real estate, employment, mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation, intellectual property and contract dispute resolution.

Under the new agreement, the Forrest Firm’s corporate attorneys will be on-site for weekly, pre-scheduled meetings at the Durham campus, known as American Underground @Main. During these on-site meetings, the attorneys will offer free legal consultations to American Underground tenants, as well as offering discounted services tailored specifically to the needs of early-stage companies.

According to Forrest Firm attorney Jeff Wolfe, the new deal makes sense for American Underground startups. “Startup companies are often the organizations that are in the greatest need of legal services,” Wolfe said. “Many are dealing with competitors, partners, and customers that are much larger and greater-resourced, and they need to go about their business development with a firm hand on controlling risk.”

Forrest Firm attorney Jesse Jones sees the partnership as a larger win for the Durham and Triangle business communities. “Our aim, in everything we do, is to be a champion for our clients and the business community at large,” stated Jones. “We really do believe that in contributing to the success of startups, you’re seeding the field with the next growth-oriented companies that will drive job creation and economic development for years to come.”

James Forrest, principal attorney and founder of the Forrest Firm, is proud to work in partnership with American Underground, a client of the firm, to further elevate the Triangle’s standing as one of the world’s great metropolitan areas for living and working. “I’m very thankful of the opportunity we’ve had to work with Adam Klein and all of the great people at American Underground,” said Forrest. “Through the years, Forrest Firm attorneys have had the privilege of helping some of the greatest innovators in the Triangle take their companies from startups to growth stage and beyond. Those clients and the friends of our firm believe in initiatives like this, as they know we are collaborating to sustain our community with thriving companies and tomorrow’s leaders.”
