FORREST COMMUNITY FOCUS: FORREST FIRM’S WOLFE AND FORREST PROVIDE PRO BONO STARTUP MENTORING FOR LANDING SPOT
January 19, 2015
The Landing Spot is a joint venture of economic development entities Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce and startup hub (and Forrest Firm client) American Underground. Launched in December, the Landing Spot began after the program sponsors selected 10 entrepreneurs from a group of applicants recently laid off by area corporations.
Landing Spot is yet another example of the extreme creativity of our region’s economic developers. The Landing Spot offers the selected entrepreneurs access to a host of mentors and venture capital opportunities with area startup labs such as CED, Groundwork Labs, NC Idea, and the Startup Factory. The entrepreneurs will also get free advice from a host of advisors from areas such as legal and financial services.
The program works in a three-month cycle. At the end of the cycle, participants can remain in the program at a special rate or opt out. As part of Forrest Firm’s participation, Forrest and Wolfe will meet with the Landing Spot entrepreneurs to provide pro bono legal counsel.
“We are proud to have the Forrest Firm participate in another breakthrough service to the Triangle startup community,” stated Adam Klein, Chief Strategist at American Underground. “The team at the Forrest Firm is committed to our business community and really attuned to the needs of our entrepreneurs. We are grateful for their efforts.”
“It’s an honor to serve our business community alongside great people at American Underground, the Durham Chamber, and the Research Triangle Foundation,” stated Forrest. “We appreciate any opportunity to give something back to a community that gives so much to our firm, and we look forward to working with another exciting group of new entrepreneurs at Landing Spot.”
