Burns Named to 2019 Best Lawyers in America List

Best Lawyers, a peer review publication, has named the Forrest Firm’s John Burns to its annual “Best Lawyers in America” list for 2019, in the litigation category.

Mr. Burns, who joined the Forrest Firm in April, has earned multiple awards in legal circles during his nearly 20 years of practice as a litigator. He has earned recognition from his North Carolina legal peers in the annual SuperLawyers listing every year since 2011.  In addition, he is a three-time honoree (2010, 2011, 2014) Business North Carolina’s annual Legal Elite list of NC attorneys.

Recognition by Best Lawyers is based on the publication’s proprietary peer recognition methodology, which is designed to capture consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.

Mr. Burns represents clients in a wide variety of matters involving commercial litigation, arbitrations, and appeals. He frequently serves clients in the financial services industry and has represented companies in corporate contract and tort disputes, loan workouts, commercial foreclosures and collections, and construction contracting disputes.

John Burns is a graduate of Davidson College and the Wake Forest University School of Law.  Licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina, Mr. Burns is a member of the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the North Carolina General Court of Justice, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the U. S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina, the U. S. District Courts of the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U. S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Burns also serves as a Wake County Commissioner, elected countywide in 2014.
