ATTORNEY DAVID MORRIS JOINS FORREST FIRM

Celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2016, the Forrest Firm is a provider of corporate legal services to entrepreneurs, investors and executives. The firm works in multiple areas relevant to businesses at every stage of their life cycles. Core practice areas include business formation, angel and venture financings, intellectual property, commercial real estate, employment, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, tax, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
In his new role as an of counsel attorney at the firm, Morris will draw from a deep well of experience as an attorney, commercial banker, M&A strategic advisor, entrepreneur, and investor to advise Forrest Firm clients.
Morris began his career as a commercial banker at a predecessor firm of JP Morgan Chase providing business development support and financial analyses to the bank’s real estate, gaming, and private equity groups. He subsequently worked as an assistant vice president for Regions Bank, supervising a team responsible for underwriting corporate banking loans for a four-state territory.
Morris later served as an associate director of global investment bank, UBS Warburg, assisting multinational clients in analyzing, structuring, and executing mergers and acquisitions from the firm’s New York and Tokyo offices. Returning to the Triangle, he became the assistant director and senior research fellow at Duke University’s Global Capital Markets Center teaching cross-listed undergraduate and law school courses focused on mergers and acquisitions, including transaction structures, firm valuations, merger analyses, Delaware corporate law, and corporate governance. He also currently lectures in topics centered on finance at North Carolina Central University.
In addition to his work in mergers and acquisitions, business and legal education, Morris spent 10 years as managing partner and general counsel at Oracle Capital Partners, a Midwest-based investment firm. In his venture capital endeavors, Morris targeted companies operating in manufacturing, commercial services, technology, and health care services.
In addition to his duties at the Forrest Firm, Morris serves as chief strategy officer of consignment technology firm äLuxuRē, which he also co-founded.
Morris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics from Duke University, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. He earned a Juris Doctor degree with concentrations in commercial transactions and corporate reorganization from Duke University’s School of Law.
David Morris is a member of the New York State Bar and is not currently licensed in North Carolina.
