In her role at the Forrest Firm, Virginia Pleasants focuses her practice on estate planning, estate administration, and general business law. She works with clients to establish estate plans that efficiently transfer wealth to the next generation, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Ms. Pleasants also advises and guides executors, trustees, and beneficiaries through the estate administration process. In her corporate practice, she advises clients on the the formation and dissolution of business entities, the sale, purchase, and financing of businesses, and the drafting and reviewing of all types of business agreements.
Ms. Pleasants joined the Forrest Firm’s Winston-Salem office in October of 2018 after spending 5 years at Bell, Davis and Pitt, P.A. where she primarily practiced in the area of trusts and estates, as well as assisting clients in corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions. She additionally guided clients in the creation, management, and use of their intellectual property assets.
Ms. Pleasants currently serves on the Winston Salem Foundation’s Community Philanthropy Builders board and is a member of the Winston-Salem Estate Planning Council, where she previously served as secretary. She is also a member of the Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem and serves as a representative for the Carolina Law Club of Winston-Salem. Additionally, she volunteers at Petree Elementary School, where she helps kindergarteners work on their reading skills.
Ms. Pleasants earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she served as the managing editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation.
She is licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina, where she is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association.
