Attorney Monica Webb-Shackleford joined the Forrest Firm’s Raleigh office in May of 2018. Monica serves clients in the areas of employment law, business litigation, and appellate matters.
During her career, Ms. Webb-Shackleford has served as a practicing attorney and law school executive. In her most recent role, Monica served as Director of Student Life and Pro Bono Opportunities at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh. While at Campbell, she oversaw more than 20 institutional student groups, as well as Campbell Law’s robust and growing pro bono portfolio.
Prior to her tenure at Campbell Law, Ms. Webb-Shackleford worked for nearly nine years as a corporate attorney at the Raleigh office of McGuireWoods LLP, representing commercial entities in a variety of business litigation, employment, and appellate matters. At McGuireWoods, Monica was a member of the firm’s appeals and issues practice group, representing clients in numerous appeals before state and federal courts. In addition to her appellate work, she has deep litigation experience in the healthcare sector.
Monica began her legal career as a clerk for the Honorable Sarah Parker, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.
Ms. Webb-Shackleford earned a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1998 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she also received a master of public health degree in 2000. Monica graduated with a juris doctor degree in 2006 from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill.
Monica Webb-Shackleford is licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina, where she is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association. She is licensed to practice in all North Carolina courts, the Federal District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Active in the North Carolina legal community, Monica is currently serving as the immediate Past President of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. She is also on the statewide board of directors for Legal Aid of North Carolina, and she also serves as treasurer for the North Carolina Supreme Court Historical Society.
