Attorney Andy Jones joined the Forrest Firm’s Wilmington office in the fall of 2017 after practicing as a business attorney and litigator for four years in the Cape Fear region.
In his role at the Forrest Firm, Mr. Jones maintains a diverse practice focused on civil litigation and business law. In his litigation practice, Mr. Jones represent clients in matters involving all forms of civil and commercial disputes, from pre-filing negotiations to appeals. In addition, Mr. Jones provides business counsel to North Carolina for-profit and non-profit businesses, entrepreneurs, and executives, with an emphasis on formations, complex commercial contract negotiations, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. He regularly provides outside legal counsel to clients in the transportation, food and beverage, technology, CRO, and construction industries, among others. Mr. Jones also advises families on estate planning and administration matters.
Mr. Jones began his legal career in 2013 at the Wilmington law firm of Rountree Losee LLP, where he ended his tenure as an equity partner. During his time at Rountree Losee, he concentrated his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, business law, and admiralty and maritime law.
Andy Jones earned his juris doctor degree (magna cum laude) in 2013 from Elon University’s School of Law in Greensboro where he was a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship (full merit-based scholarship), Articles Editor of the Elon Law Review, and a member of the Moot Court Board. He graduated from Davidson College in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Mr. Jones is licensed to practice in North Carolina, before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of the state, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Jones is an active member of the Wilmington community. He is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc., a non-profit providing substance abuse, mental health, and crisis intervention services throughout Eastern North Carolina. An Eagle Scout, he also serves on the Executive Board of the Cape Fear Council, Boy Scouts of America. In his professional associations, Mr. Jones is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and Co-Chair of the Meetings & Conventions Committee of the NCBA Young Lawyers’ Division.
