As a certified B Corporation, the Forrest Firm is always on the lookout for ways to support our community, especially through the work of the many non-profits making a difference across North Carolina. As part of our ongoing commitment to the community, the Forrest Firm is proud to sponsor the upcoming Impact Luncheon for StepUp Durham on June 6th in Durham, NC.
The luncheon will take place at Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church, starting at 12:00 P.M.
StepUp Durham partners with multiple non-profit organizations in the Bull City and Triangle area to offer free training, referral, and support services to unemployed and underemployed people in the area, including those with barriers to employment like a criminal background or gaps in work history. In conjunction with organizations like Urban Ministries and Families Moving Forward, StepUp has placed more than 100 Durham residents into employment in just 18 months.
StepUp Durham, like the Forrest Firm, is one of the earliest partner organizations of Durham’s hub for social impact, the ReCity Network.
At last year’s inaugural Impact Luncheon, more than 160 supporters of StepUp Durham gathered at Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church to learn more about and celebrate the organization’s impact on unemployment and underemployment in the Bull City. The 2016 Impact Luncheon raised just over $25,000 to support StepUp’s mission of promoting employment opportunities among the underserved.
“We are honored to play a role in promoting StepUp Durham’s mission,” said attorney David Morris of the Forrest Firm. “The work that StepUp does in the City of Durham creates lasting change in the community, and that lines up perfectly with the Forrest Firm’s mission of using a business as a force of good.”
