Update: due to the impact on our state from Hurricane Florence, the Forrest Firm is extending the submission deadline for this year’s Social Impact Challenge to October 10, 2018 with the winners announcement slated for October 26, 2018.
The third edition of the challenge reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful support to community organizations, churches, and businesses dedicated to being forces for good. The Forrest Firm itself is the only law firm in the state of North Carolina to operate as a certified B Corporation, with a three-fold mission of delivering client-centered legal services, creating sustainable working environments for legal professionals, and contributing to the greater good of the communities where our people live and work.
The firm launched the Challenge in the spring of 2016 as part of its fifth anniversary celebrations and followed through with another challenge in 2017. The two previous campaigns were successful in helping multiple non-profits launch and sustain their operations, benefitting the people of North Carolina for generations to come.
This year’s Social Impact Challenge will expand not only to include faith-based organizations and mission-driven businesses, but will also grow to include winners from every market the firm serves across North Carolina. Challenge judges will select winners from the following five markets: the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill), the Triad (Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point), Western North Carolina (Asheville and surrounding areas), Charlotte (and surrounding counties) and the North Carolina Coast (Wilmington and other beach communities).
The firm will accept submissions from social entrepreneurs, as well as non-profit and faith-based leaders between August 15 and September 14. In addition to selecting winners for each of the five markets, the judges will select a statewide grand prize winner from the five market winners.
All Social Impact Challenge winners will receive a package of services delivered pro bono by attorneys from the Forrest Firm, as well as one or more professional services offered by challenge partners Walk West (marketing), RevBoss (lead generation), CloudWyze (technology), Proposa (digital proposals), Creative Allies (branding), Pinnacle Financial Partners (banking), and Stancil (accounting).
The Forrest Firm will announce all of the winners of the Social Impact Challenge on October 4.
