After careful consideration of dozens of impressive candidates, the Forrest Firm is thrilled to announce the winners of its 2018 Social Impact Challenge, a celebration of North Carolina non-profits, faith-based organizations, and mission-driven businesses.
The winning submissions will receive a suite of pro bono legal services from the Forrest Firm, as well as professional services from challenge partners representing a range of business services.
Here are the winners of the 2018 Forrest Firm Social Impact Challenge:

The Forrest Firm began the annual competition in 2016 to honor its fifth anniversary and the attainment of B Corp certification. In our work as a B Corporation, the Forrest Firm aspires to help the larger community in all that we do – whether it’s working with non-profits, churches, or entrepreneurs. The firm’s mission is to serve communities with the same passion with which we serve our clients. The Social Impact Challenge is a way for the firm to offer legal services and build relationships with partners who serve as the foundation of our communities.
This year, a group of North Carolina business leaders joined the Social Impact Challenge as volunteer judges:

The 2018 grand prize winner, Piedmont Renewal Network, promotes economic mobility and equality of opportunity in Winston-Salem by providing educational opportunities to the area’s least fortunate children. PRN’s latest initiative, College Lift, facilitates a whole-family, wraparound support system for students in need. In addition to pro bono legal services from Forrest Firm, PRN will receive professional branding services from challenge partner Creative Allies, professional accounting services from Stancil, and professional banking services from Pinnacle Financial Partners.
Coastal Horizons offers a variety of programs to promote healthier lives, stronger families, and safer communities. This includes substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, and school-based health services. Coastal Horizons will enjoy professional technology services from CloudWyze as well as a visual marketing piece from Creative Allies.
Samaritan Health Center is a free clinic serving Durham residents in need. Inspired by the philosophy of Jesus Christ, this faith-based non-profit aims to “share the love” by providing compassionate and comprehensive health care. SHC will receive banking services from Pinnacle Financial Partners and marketing from Walk West.
Unique Places To Save takes an entrepreneurial approach to land conservation and community place-making. Its mission is to preserve, create, and/or maintain places that future generations can enjoy. UP2Save has won professional digital services from Proposa and a visual marketing piece from Creative Allies.
StartCharlotte connects the Charlotte startup community by acting as the “local startup megaphone.” In addition to telling local entrepreneurs’ stories, StartCharlotte hosts networking events throughout the year and provides useful startup information. The non-profit will receive professional development services from RevBoss and a visual marketing piece by Creative Allies.
